ABOUT THE AUTHOR

El Wright

El Wright is a lifelong activist, organizer, and pioneer whose work is deeply rooted in the fight for justice and equity. Born and raised in the Northeast, her commitment to civil rights began in her youth as a member of the NAACP youth branch. As a teenager, she co-founded her school's first Black student newspaper and organized demonstrations during the pivotal struggles of the 1960s. Her resolve was forged in fire when, during college, she survived a violent, racially charged hit-and-run attack—an injustice compounded by a media smear and a failed legal system. Undeterred, she continued her activism, leading a student occupation that established her college's first Black Women's Dormitory. After moving to Newark, she immersed herself in the city's revitalization and national liberation movements. When federal regulations opened new doors, El seized the opportunity to shatter barriers in the railroad industry, building a distinguished 25-year career as a freight brakeman. Her life's journey—from the front lines of protest to breaking glass ceilings in a male-dominated field—is a testament to her unwavering belief in dignity, access, and collective action. She remains an active and vital voice in her community.

Through my writing and work, I provide not only practical guidance for your financial journey but also the critical awareness to safeguard your rights and your future.

My Purpose

My purpose is to merge hard-earned wisdom from a life of activism and barrier-breaking with actionable strategies for economic and civic freedom. Project 2025

Project 2025

In “Project 2025,” El Wright presents a powerful argument that contemporary policy movements are systematically recreating the effects of the Jim Crow era through modern, bureaucratic means. The book meticulously traces how voter suppression, economic austerity, and culture-war policies function as a coordinated program to roll back civil-rights gains. Wright exposes the mechanisms—rhetorical reframing and administrative changes—that normalize exclusion while avoiding explicit racial language. Across policy areas from education to policing, the book details this structural threat while foregrounding the resilience and resistance of Black communities, framing it as an urgent call to defend democratic participation.

MORE ABOUT THE BOOK

Chapter 01
This chapter connects the legal subjugation of Jim Crow—poll taxes, violence, and segregation—to the modern conservative vision. It introduces Project 2025's architects and argues its goal to "restore American greatness," uses coded language to reclaim white dominance, and systematically roll back civil rights.
Chapter 02
Wright details modern voter suppression tactics like strict ID laws, voter roll purges, and algorithmic gerrymandering. She shows how these bureaucratic barriers, cloaked in "election integrity" rhetoric, function as the 21st-century equivalents of poll taxes and literacy tests to disenfranchise Black voters.
Chapter 03
This chapter explores enduring economic barriers, from housing redlining and zoning to the digital divide and workplace surveillance. It argues that these structures, combined with attacks on unions and Black wealth, systematically constrain Black economic mobility and opportunity.
